25-year-old woman won't stop stealing her roommate's prescription shampoo: 'She got defensive and said I was being dramatic and acting like a “weirdo hoarder.”'

It shouldn't be very difficult to be a good roommate. It takes good communication, respecting each other's boundaries, and pulling your weight with rent and other bills, among other things. Roommates often share things like cookware, utensils, appliances, and toilet paper, but it's important to have a mutual agreement on this in the first place. 

My roommate and I, for instance, often share food, but we agree that if I finish the milk she bought, I buy the next gallon, and vice versa. Then, some things belong solely to me or her, and we agree to follow those boundaries. It's all about finding a balance while respecting each other's belongings. You never want to be the roommate who steals food or, in this story, the roommate who steals expensive soaps. 

Here, we have two young women who live in a small apartment together. One of them decides to throw out her own shampoo and conditioner to "declutter" and adopt a more minimalistic lifestyle. She says she doesn't want to buy more unless she has to. To her, this suddenly means she has free rein to use her roommate's prescription hair care products, which are quite expensive.

The shampoo thief could simply apologize and buy her own shampoo and conditioner, but instead, she can't take responsibility for her actions and turns the blame around on her roommate. Don't ask me why she threw out her hair products if they weren't empty yet -- it's beyond me.

    BoxDesu I'd let that one run out then keep the empty bottle in the shower. And keep the replacement you buy separate. See if she ever replaces itm if she asks tell her you've gone minimalistic too and are trying a water only shower
